Ed Waterfield
August 1, 1957 — June 6, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Ed Waterfield, a cherished soul who left this world peacefully on June 6, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on August 1, 1957, in Niskayuna, NY, Ed was a beacon of warmth and compassion, touching the lives of all who knew him.
Ed was the beloved son of John R. Waterfield and Sueko N. Waterfield. His upbringing in Niskayuna was filled with laughter, love, and learning, shaping him into the compassionate person he became. Tragically, Ed was predeceased by his cherished brother, James N. Waterfield, whose memory he carried dearly throughout his life.
A proud alumnus of Niskayuna High School, class of 1975, Ed's educational journey was marked by a spirit of curiosity and a passion for learning. His career reflected his dedication and commitment, beginning at Mohawk National Bank and continuing through Norstar Bank and Fleet Bank for 18 fruitful years. Ed later brought his skills and expertise to the City of Schenectady, where he served diligently for 22 years before retiring and embracing the sunny climes of Florida in 2018.
Ed's personal life was a testament to enduring love and partnership. On November 11, 2011, he joyously married Robert Dickson, affectionately known as Bob, with whom he shared a rich life filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect. Their journey together began on December 23, 1985, and their union was a beautiful example of commitment and companionship, even humorously choosing their wedding date to ensure it was never forgotten.
Ed is survived by his devoted husband, Robert Dickson, whose love and support were the cornerstone of Ed's happiness. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Robert Waterfield, Justin, and John (Audrey), and his dear niece, Cora Waterfield, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Ed's life was one of quiet strength, gentle kindness, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His legacy is one of generosity, warmth, and integrity, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends. In remembering Ed, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with cherished memories and enduring love.
A memorial service to honor Ed's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, embrace one another, and celebrate the remarkable person Ed was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Ed's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of giving and compassion.
Though Ed is no longer with us, his spirit will forever guide and inspire us, as we carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and warmth. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
