In Loving Memory

Ed Himbeault
December 25, 1937 — March 31, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Ed Himbeault on March 31, 2026, at the age of 88. Ed was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world as he lived in it—surrounded by love and family.
Born on December 25, 1937, in the quaint town of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Ed was a Christmas gift to his parents, Nap and Germaine Himbeault, and was raised with sisters Betty, Alice, and Shar, and brother Bob. Though he faced the sorrow of predeceasing family members, including his beloved sisters Betty and Alice, his life was enriched by a large and loving family.
In 1959, Ed married the love of his life, Dot, embarking on a lifelong journey of devotion and partnership that spanned an incredible 67 years. Together, they built a beautiful life in Didsbury, Alberta, where they moved in 1963. There, they realized their dream of owning an acreage, complete with horses—a testament to Ed's love of the rodeo and his enduring passion for all things equestrian.
Ed and Dot raised two wonderful daughters, Dena (Rick) and Leah (Steve), who blessed them with five cherished grandchildren: Rachel, Chelsea (Aaron), Jesse, Savanna (Tanner), and Sarah (Cody). The family continued to grow, welcoming great-grandchildren Taya, Teagan, Harlow, Coen, and Reese, each a new chapter in Ed's remarkable legacy.
A man of unparalleled work ethic, Ed dedicated himself to every endeavor with unwavering determination. His career saw him work tirelessly, culminating in his retirement from Kendze Septic at the age of 81, only when his health necessitated it.
Ed's life was a testament to courage and passion. In his 40s, he embraced the thrill of bronc and bull riding, capturing the spirit of the rodeo he so deeply loved. Even after experiencing a few "wrecks," Ed's indomitable spirit led him to the sport of team roping—a passion he and Dot shared, even enjoying the sport together during winters in Arizona.
Ed's love for his family was as boundless as his love for the rodeo. He was a guiding light, a steadfast presence, and his legacy of hard work, love, and adventure will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Elks Hall, located at 1914-20th Street, Didsbury, AB. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose life was a testament to love and resilience.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ed’s memory to a charity of your choice, honoring his generous spirit and the countless lives he touched.
Ed Himbeault's journey was one of love, adventure, and dedication. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, his legacy forever emblazoned in the hearts of his family and friends.
