Earnestine Carter, a beacon of love and joy, returned to her heavenly home on May 4, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on December 16, 1958, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, Earnestine was the cherished daughter of Rosie Mary Carter and the late Ferdinand Carter. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth and laughter that will be dearly missed. Earnestine grew up in Aberdeen, where she attended Aberdeen High School. From an early age, she was known for her vivacious spirit and infectious laughter, traits that would continue to define her throughout her life. After graduating, she embarked on a fulfilling career at Georgia Gulf, where she worked with dedication until her retirement. A woman of deep faith, Earnestine joined the First Baptist Church of Aberdeen early in her life. She later became a beloved member of Morgan Chapel C.M.E Church, where her beautiful voice graced the choir, uplifting the spirits of all who heard her sing. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through life's challenges and joys. Family was the heart of Earnestine's world. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Alisha Carter and Stephanie Mathis (married to Darrell), and a proud grandmother to Cortavious Carter (partner Aaliyah), Shania Mathis, and Daylan Mathis. Her eyes sparkled with joy at the mention of her great-grandchildren, Aubree and Aariah Carter, who brought an abundance of happiness into her life. She cherished her role as a matriarch, nurturing her family with unconditional love and wisdom. Earnestine was predeceased by her father, Ferdinand Carter; her sister, Deborah Walker; and her grandparents, Maudine and Nathaniel "Brit" Jones. Her mother, Rosie Mary Carter, and her siblings, Hansel Jones (partner Willie Ann), Oscar Wilson, Denise Johnson, Christopher Carter (partner Lashando), and Shelia McMillian (partner Glenn), survive her, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends, all of whom will forever hold her in their hearts. Known for her vibrant personality, Earnestine was truly the life of the party. Her laughter could light up a room, and her kindness touched everyone she met. She had a passion for cooking and delighted in sharing meals with her loved ones. Her culinary creations were legendary, and her kitchen was always a place of warmth and welcome. Earnestine loved to sing and dance, her spirit soaring with every note and step. She found joy in traveling and relished the thrill of visiting casinos, where she was known to bring her infectious energy to every game. Her hobbies reflected her zest for life and her unwavering belief in enjoying every moment to the fullest. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Earnestine's remarkable life. Her family and close friends will gather to celebrate the woman who brought so much joy into their lives and to bid farewell to a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. In remembering Earnestine, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
