It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Mason, who departed this life on June 27, 2026, at the age of 39, after a valiant battle with a lengthy illness. Born on November 16, 1986, in Detroit, MI, Earl was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose gentle spirit touched the hearts of many. Earl was the cherished son of Daryl Mason and the late Shelia Williams. He was predeceased by his loving mother Shelia, and his dear sisters, Sylvia and Sophia. His legacy lives on through his father, Daryl; sister, Shawn-‘ta; brother, Daryl II; and a large, loving family of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many devoted coworkers and friends who mourn his loss deeply. A proud product of Detroit Public Schools, Earl attended Myra Jones, Cass Tech, and graduated with high honors from Kettering Senior High School. Known for his academic excellence, Earl was a constant source of support and encouragement, offering tutoring to classmates and family members from junior high through college. His thirst for knowledge and passion for music led him to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, where he majored in Music and Liberal Arts. Earl's proficiency with brass instruments, including the tuba, trombone, French horn, and cornet, was a testament to his dedication and talent. Earl's career in Security Services brought him immense joy and fulfillment until his sudden illness. His professionalism and calm demeanor were admired by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. Earl was also a proud member of a longstanding fraternity, joining during his high school years, where he formed lifelong bonds of brotherhood. In his quiet moments, Earl found solace in music, video games, and the company of his father, fraternity brothers, and friends. He treasured the camaraderie found within the very Selective Cousin CHAT, where laughter and love were abundantly shared. Earl will be remembered for his gentle nature and soft-spoken kindness. His dignified presence and warm smile left an indelible mark on all who knew him. A life well-lived, Earl’s journey was one of compassion, integrity, and love. A celebration of Earl’s life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Barksdake Funeral Home, located at 123 Main Street. The family will share a special message at the service.
