Earl L. Bussey

Earl L. Bussey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully departed this world on July 31, 2026, in the comforting presence of his cherished wife Dolly, his eldest son Leroy, and his eldest daughter Mary. Born on April 21, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, Earl was the son of Margaret Snyder and Kenneth Mentzell. His life was a testament to the values of family, love, and dedication. Earl's journey began in Baltimore, where he married the love of his life, Dolly, on July 2, 1963. Together, they shared 63 beautiful years, building a life grounded in devotion and care. Their union was blessed with four children: Mary, Leroy, Vonda, and Steven. Earl's family expanded over the years, bringing joy in the form of 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in his heart. A dedicated professional, Earl committed 30 years of his career to the Howard County Board of Education, where he was respected by colleagues and students alike. Beyond his professional life, Earl was a man of many passions. He found solace in the great outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and gardening. His talents extended to carpentry, where he was known as an expert handyman. Above all, Earl cherished moments spent playing with his great-grandchildren, whose laughter filled his days with happiness. Earl was a man of gentle spirit, known for his kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. He touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. Those who knew him will fondly remember his gentle nature and the generosity. Earl's departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of his surviving family members: his devoted wife Dolly, his children Mary, Leroy, Steven, and his large and loving extended family. He was predeceased by his daughter Vonda and grandsons Timothy Earl Meile and Timothy John Borggreen Jr., who are now reunited with him in eternal peace. A service celebrating Earl's remarkable life will be held on August 23, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at The Bussey Residence, located at 406 Red Lion Branch Rd. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a man who was truly loved by all. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, in honor of Earl's memory. Earl's absence will be felt for years to come, but his spirit and the countless memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
