With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Earl Barnes, who departed this life on March 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family in the comfort of his home. Earl was born on June 5, 1945, in the gentle town of Prentiss, Mississippi, to the late John and Emma Barnes. Earl's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of love, hard work, and devotion. On February 14, 1967, he married the love of his life, Mary Barnes, in a beautiful ceremony in Gulf Port, Mississippi. Together, they shared over 50 years of unwavering love and companionship, building a family rooted in warmth and togetherness. Earl was a dedicated father and is fondly remembered by his children, Felisha Barnes and Stanford Barnes. Though preceded in death by his infant daughter, Grace Barnes, and son, Stanford Barnes, Earl's spirit of resilience and strength was a guiding light for his family through times of joy and sorrow alike. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored and who brought immense joy to his days. A man of strong principles and a steadfast work ethic, Earl attended Temple High School before embarking on a successful career as a contractor. His commitment to excellence and integrity earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients until his well-deserved retirement. Earl's faith was a cornerstone of his life. As an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, he devoted himself to serving his community and uplifting those around him. His presence at the church was a testament to his unwavering faith and dedication. In his leisure time, Earl found solace and happiness in the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, passions he often shared with family and friends. Whether casting a line on a tranquil lake or recounting tales of his adventures, Earl's love for nature was infectious. More than anything, he cherished time spent with family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Earl is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Barnes; his daughter, Felisha Barnes; and his siblings, James Barnes, Stacy Barnes, Derrick Barnes, and Amy Barnes. As they mourn his passing, they find comfort in the enduring love and countless memories he leaves behind. In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Earl's life and legacy. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Earl's memory to a charity of your choice or to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, reflecting his spirit of giving and community. Earl Barnes touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and unwavering love. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His journey may have ended, but the impact of his life will echo for eternity.
