April 28, 1978 — June 12, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dyvon Small, who departed from this world on June 12, 2026, at the age of 48, following a brave battle with liver cancer. Born on April 28, 1978, in Hartford, Connecticut, Dyvon lived a life marked by resilience, warmth, and a deep love for his family. Dyvon's journey began in the vibrant community of Hartford, where he grew up under the loving guidance of his mother, Dolores Barber. Though she predeceased him, he carried her teachings and spirit in his heart throughout his life. His path was not always easy, and he faced many challenges, including leaving high school early. However, Dyvon found his calling in the recycling industry, where he dedicated three decades of hard work and commitment. His steadfast dedication was so profound that he remained with the company through three changes of ownership, a testament to his loyalty and work ethic. Family was at the heart of Dyvon's world. He was a devoted father to his six cherished children: Dyvon Jr., Zahkya, Journai, Drake, Nyaira, and Jade. Each of his children brought unique joy and light into his life, and he treasured them deeply. Dyvon was also blessed with six grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and happiness for him. Dyvon's life was rich with personal connections and relationships. He shared special bonds with the mothers of his children, and together they created a tapestry of love and family that was the cornerstone of his existence. Despite the challenges life presented, Dyvon's heart was always full of love for his family. While Dyvon's hobbies included drinking, it is important to remember the man behind the pastime—a man of humor, wit, and a heart that was as generous as it was big. Those who knew him will remember his laughter, his stories, and his ability to bring people together. He was a man who embraced life fully, flaws and all, and taught those around him the importance of living authentically. In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Dyvon's life and legacy. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. They kindly ask that you carry his memory forward and raise a glass in his honor when you drink, celebrating the indomitable spirit of a man who will be deeply missed but never forgotten. As we say goodbye to Dyvon, let us remember his life as a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
