It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dwight W. Johnson, a beloved partner, father, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this world on March 11, 2026. Born on November 12, 1955, in Flint, Michigan, Dwight's life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. Dwight was the cherished son of the late Dwight Harold and Helen (Harewood) Johnson. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Michael D. Johnson. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, carried on by his life partner, Alice L. Smith, and his three sons, Cheveaze Washington of Missouri, Wendell K. Sherrell of Missouri, and Wesley Sherrell of Kansas. His memory will also be treasured by his sisters, Judith L. (Ronald) Light of Michigan, Cathy E. Johnson of Missouri, and Deborah L. Johnson, as well as his extended family, including four nieces, Tammy E. Johnson, Quanica (Bilal) Furcan, Antoinette (Nikita) Gillard, and Victoria Trahan, and three nephews, Edwin Duane Johnson, Anthony Johnson, and Fabian Johnson. Dwight's heart was brimming with love for his family, and he was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and a great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to share in their accomplishments and milestones. Throughout his career, Dwight wore many hats, showcasing a versatile talent that spanned creative capital, real estate, car sales, and dog training. He was a man of many skills, but it was his personal characteristics that truly defined him. Dwight was known for making everyone feel comfortable and welcome, a testament to his kindness, generosity, and genuine love for people. His laughter was infectious, and his spirit, indomitable. To honor Dwight's life and his remarkable journey, a memorial service will be held on April 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens, located at 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of a life well-lived, sharing stories and memories that capture the essence of a man who touched so many lives. Dwight W. Johnson will be dearly missed, but his legacy of compassion, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared with a truly remarkable man. May he rest in eternal peace, forever in our hearts.
