It is with deep sadness yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Dwight Crooks, who departed this world on December 31, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on December 22, 1972, in the serene town of Old Harbor, Jamaica, Dwight was the cherished son of Teraseta and Andrew Crooks. Throughout his life, he carried the warmth of his birthplace in his heart, sharing it with everyone he encountered. Dwight leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory: his siblings Bancroft Jr, Kareem, Jamaal, and Tianna, who were not only his family but his lifelong friends. He was a devoted uncle to Karina, Briella, Maeva, Bryce, Amaya, Jameer, and Rejean, each of whom he loved dearly, always finding time to guide and support them with his characteristic kindness and wisdom. A man of many talents and interests, Dwight was known for his passion for music, a love that resonated throughout his life. Whether playing his guitar or simply enjoying the melodies of life, music was a constant companion that brought him immense joy. Dwight also had a natural aptitude for fixing things, using his hands to mend and create, a skill that reflected his generous nature and his willingness to help others. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his family, creating memories filled with laughter and love that will sustain them in his absence. A celebration of Dwight’s life will be held on March 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, located at 124 Henry St, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are warmly invited to join in honoring his remarkable life and the legacy he leaves behind. In this time of sorrow, the Crooks family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has offered their love and support during this difficult period. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of strength and comfort. As we say goodbye to Dwight, we hold onto the memories of a life filled with love, music, and the beautiful connections he fostered. He will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know and love him.
