November 12, 1969 — October 23, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dwaine E. Wilkinson, a devoted son, father, grandfather, and cherished friend, who left us on October 23, 2026. Born on November 12, 1969, in Alton, Illinois, Dwaine brought love and joy to those around him throughout his 56 years. Dwaine was the beloved son of Barbara Bauser and Rodger Wilkinson, who survive him and continue to cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his dear grandparents, Carl and Retha Wilkinson, and his lifelong companion, Terry Laws, with whom he shared over 30 wonderful years of companionship. Dwaine was a proud graduate of East Alton Wood River High School, where he built the foundation for a life filled with hard work and dedication. Following in his family's footsteps, he pursued a career as a vending machine repair technician. His work was not just a job but a passion, and he delighted in sharing stories of his on-the-job adventures with his grandpa. A man of many interests, Dwaine found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, a talented gardener with a special love for his tomato plants, and a keen golfer who relished his weekend games. Above all, Dwaine treasured the time spent with his grandchildren, teaching them, guiding them, and passing on his wisdom and kindness. Dwaine's legacy lives on through his loving family: his son, Andrew Wilkinson, and daughter-in-law, Kylie Wilkinson; his cherished grandchildren, Reina Peirson, Aleah Wilkinson, and Brantley Wilkinson; his brother, Sean R. Wilkinson; as well as his nieces and nephew, Sean M. Wilkinson, Heather Barnes, and Breanna Wilkinson. His family will forever remember him as an amazing son, father, and grandpa, who put others first, selflessly helping everyone he could, even in times of struggle. Dwaine's integrity and determination were evident in everything he did. He was an honest man who believed in working hard for what he wanted and completing every task he started. His kindness, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to family and friends were the hallmarks of his character. A service to celebrate Dwaine's life will be held on November 2, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Marks Mortuary, located at 633 E. Lorena Ave, Wood River, Illinois. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in honoring Dwaine's memory and celebrating the life of a truly remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of choice, in honor of Dwaine's generous spirit and his lifelong commitment to helping others.
