July 19, 2001 – June 17, 2026 With profound sadness, we announce the untimely passing of Dwain Martin on June 17, 2026, in a tragic motorcycle accident. Born on July 19, 2001, in Augusta, Georgia, Dwain was a beacon of joy and vitality to all who knew him. His departure has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts. Dwain was the cherished son of Dwain Martin Sr. and Charyl Martin. He was blessed with a loving family that included his devoted sisters, Ashley Johnson, Daja Martin, and Khaila Mcmorris; his brother-in-law, Vincent Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Danesha Murray. His nieces, Jaleah and Jocelyn Johnson, and his nephew, Edward Vincent Johnson (EJ), brought him immense joy, and his beloved partner, Erique Knappenberger, held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. Dwain's early life was enriched by the wisdom and love of his grandparents. Though he was predeceased by his grandfathers, Raymond Martin and Larry Poole, his uncle Kelvin Martin, his aunts Crystal Johnson and Jennifer Paige, and his cousin Benjamin Wesby, their memories lived on in his heart. He is survived by his grandmothers, Carrie Poole and Gloria Martin, who were constant sources of strength and inspiration. A proud graduate of Camden County High School in May 2019, Dwain was a young man of ambition and dedication. He answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the US Navy in October 2019. His commitment and hard work were evident as he quickly advanced from an undesignated seaman to the esteemed position of leading Yeoman aboard the USS Truman, where he served with distinction. Dwain was a true Georgia football fanatic, his passion for the game matched only by his love for golf, fishing, and riding. He relished the simple pleasures of life, finding the greatest happiness in the company of his family and friends. His infectious smile and quick wit made him the life of every room he entered, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Beyond his accomplishments and interests, Dwain was a man of tremendous heart. His love for his family, friends, and especially for his partner, Erique Knappenberger, was boundless and profound. His warmth and compassion touched many lives, and his legacy of love and laughter will forever be cherished. In this time of sorrow, let us remember Dwain not for the brevity of his time with us but for the depth of the love and joy he shared. He will forever remain in our hearts, a testament to a life well-lived, though far too short.
