Duane Gary Kerr

April 4, 1934 – July 7, 2026 It is with a profound sense of loss, yet gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of Duane Gary Kerr, who left this world peacefully at his home on July 7, 2026. Born in Everett, Washington, Duane was the beloved son of Oscar Wilbur Kerr and Hyacinth Elizabeth Clark. He was 92 years old. Duane grew up in Everett, where he graduated from Everett High School in 1952. He pursued further education at Everett Community College, earning his degree in 1958 before advancing to the University of Washington, from which he graduated in 1961. His commitment to learning and his work ethic were evident throughout his life. A proud veteran, Duane served his country with distinction in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956. During his service, he was honored with the National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal, leaving with the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. In 1964, Duane married the love of his life, Becky Ann Miller, in Snohomish, WA. Together, they shared 61 beautiful years, raising three devoted children: Heather (Kerr) Martin, Chris Kerr, and Jennifer (Kerr) Taylor, alongside her husband Dwayne Taylor. Duane and Becky opened their hearts and home to numerous foreign exchange students over the years, creating a family that spanned the globe. They were blessed with the joy of four grandchildren: Brittany (Kerr) Peterson and her husband Micah Peterson, Jordan Buchanan, Jacob Taylor, and Nathan Taylor. Duane dedicated his career to serving others, working for the Department of Public Assistance from 1962 until his retirement in 1987. His commitment to public service did not end there, as he went on to work as a bus driver and later as a mail carrier with the Post Office. A man of deep faith, Duane was a cherished member of Snohomish Free Methodist Church for 62 years and actively participated in Bible Study Fellowship. He was also a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he cultivated lifelong friendships. Duane possessed an insatiable curiosity for the world, a love for adventure, and an enthusiasm for travel. He was an avid reader and gardener, and his collections of trains, stamps, and coins were a testament to his varied interests. His dry humor and unwavering support for those around him left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Becky Ann Kerr, his children and grandchildren, as well as his dear sisters-in-law, Susan (Clark) Lewis and husband Lynn Lewis, and Debra Clark. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Dean Kerr, brother-in-law William Guy, sister-in-law Jean Miller, and son-in-law Scott Martin. A memorial service to celebrate Duane's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Crossview Church, located at 604 Avenue C. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Duane's memory to BSF International, based in Dallas, TX, to honor his passion for learning and community. Duane Gary Kerr's legacy of love, laughter, and service will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will continue to inspire us all.
