Duane Bernard Plume, born on October 14, 1963, in Plymouth, New Hampshire, peacefully departed this world on June 29, 2026, embraced by the serenity of his sleep. A devoted husband, loving father, caring friend, and mentor to many, Duane's life was a testament to the power of kindness, dedication, and a love for all things mechanical. The son of Bernard "Ike" Plume and Carrie Estelle (Downing) Plume, Duane was raised in a family that valued hard work and compassion. His parents, alongside his sister Helen Cote, who predeceased him, instilled in Duane a strong sense of integrity and empathy. These values guided him throughout his life and were evident in the genuine care he extended to everyone he met. Duane shared 34 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Tobi Caroline Plume. Together, they built a home filled with warmth and laughter. Their partnership was a beacon of love and strength, admired by all who knew them. Duane's pride and joy was his daughter, Carrie Ann Plume, now 24, whose achievements and character reflect the nurturing guidance of her father. A stalwart figure in the automotive industry, Duane spent the majority of his career working in various garages around the Plymouth area. His expertise and passion for motors were unparalleled, and he took great pride in his craft. His career path eventually led him to Plymouth Regional High School, where he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with countless students. As a teacher, he was patient, encouraging, and dedicated to seeing his students succeed, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to learn from him. Outside of his professional life, Duane found joy in the simple pleasures of working on motors of any kind. Whether it was restoring a classic car or troubleshooting a neighbor’s lawnmower, Duane found solace and satisfaction in bringing machinery back to life. His hands were always busy, and his heart was always full, as he shared his love for mechanics with anyone eager to learn. Though Duane's physical presence has left us, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched.
