It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Drew Alan Byington, who departed this life peacefully in the early morning hours of March 8, 2026, at age 52, with his beloved wife Elisabeth and son Donald by his side. Drew is survived by his devoted wife Elisabeth, and children, Merrik, Addison, Donald and Brooke. As well as his parents, Gary and Donna Byington and three younger siblings, Phillip, Maja, and Marci. He was joined in the afterlife with his beloved Grandmother and two older brothers Cord and Dean. Drew was born on May 2, 1973, in the close-knit community of Chubbuck, Idaho, and was the cherished son of Donna and Gary Byington. His early days were spent amidst the warmth of a large and loving family, filled with the laughter and camaraderie of siblings and countless cousins. Drew's roots in Chubbuck were deep, and it was here that he cultivated his remarkable work ethic on his grandparents' farm, a quality that would define his life. Drew's life was a rich journey filled with passion and commitment He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1991 and went on to earn a Bachelor's in Science from Idaho State University in 2005. Before embarking on his career as a dedicated Biology Teacher, Drew served his country with honor At the tender age of 17, he signed up for the Army where he specialized in Field Artillery and Communications [lectronics, serving with distinction in Germany from 1992 to 1995. He was honorably discharged in December 1995, having carned the National Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbons, Drew returned to Idaho, where he pursued higher education with the same dedication he had shown throughout his life. Drew's professional lfe-was marked bry his enthusiasm for teaching and a profound love for the natural world As a high school biology teacher, he inspired countless students with his enthusiasm and curiosity, and was proud of his environmental efforts, particularity the restoration.of a local waterway. His dedication extended beyond the classroom , as he also assisted in coaching high school football and was especially proud of nurturing a talented young golfer Hs entrepreneurial spirit led him to open Edwardo's Restaurant and Baja Grill. Here he poured his heart into creating a welcoming and delightful dining experience. Between hls teaching and restaurant ventures, Drew also worked as a bartender and in time-shate sales, showcasing his diverse talents and installable curlosity. Drew's life was enriched by his deep love for the natural world. Weather crabbing with his brother Dean or showing off his ability to identify plants along with their botanical nomenclature he was an avid outdoorsman. He found solace in camping, fishing, and exploring the beauty of the ocean. Whether tying a fly with precision or crafting intricate woodworking projects,hobbies were as varied as his interest. His woodworking skills were exhibited by the stunning jewelry case ha crafted for Eiisabeth. It's a piece she will cherish forever. Drew's hands were always busy creating, nurturing, and connecting with the world around him. His love for adventure extended to the open road, where he found freedom on both his motorcycle and bicycle, embracing the simple joys of life. In matters of the heart, Drew was a romantic soul. He spoke with misty eyes about the love he had found in his daughters, Addison and Brooke, from his first marriage to Tracy. His bond with his daughters seemed unbreakable. Losing time with his daughters, due to divorce, was his life's largest heartache. But he always continued in trying to rekindle those relationships. He was so overjoyed to begin catching up for lost time with Addison after she started college, as they had shared countless adventures together. He was counting the days to do the same with Brooke and finally have his family complete, daughters and sons. With his second marriage to Elisabeth, his devotion was unmatched and founf emense joy in raising their sons together. He was a guiding light and souce of strength. His romantic spirit was ever present from their first date on a roof top to the many lov enotes he left for elisabeth. Drew found a love that would last a lifetime. Their relationship was a testament to devotion, filled with romantic gestures, heartfelt love letters, and cherished memories. Drew's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering friendship. He was a loving husband, attentive father, and a steadfast friend to all who knew him. His open heart, quick wit, and humor made him a beacon of light in the lives of those he touched. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Drew was a trusted confidant, a loyal friend, and a source of strength and support to those in need. Drew leaves behind a family who adored him: his loving wife, Elisabeth; his cherished son, Donald and Merrik; his beloved daughters, Addison and Brooke; his devoted parents, Gary and Donna; and his siblings, Phillip, Maja, and Marci. He is predeceased by his grandmother and his two brothers, Dean and Chord, with whom he now rejoins in the afterlife. Though Drew's journey on Earth has come to an untimely end, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love and laughter he shared will forever echo in the memories of his family and friends. As we say goodbye to Drew, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with adventure, love, and an unquenchable zest for life.
