Dr. Robert E. Faith, Jr., DVM, PhD
March 7, 1942 - April 16, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce that Dr. Robert E. Faith, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed peacefully surrounded by family, into our Lord's keeping at home in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin on April 16, 2026, after bravely battling cancer.
Born in El Paso, Texas, on March 7, 1942, Bob lived a life marked by an unwavering commitment to his family, his profession, and his passions. Bob was the beloved son of Robert Earl Faith, Sr. and Mittie Lane Condon Faith, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Stacia, with whom he shared 45 beautiful years. Together, they blended their families, creating a tapestry of cherished relationships and memories. Bob is also survived by his son, Richard Trent Faith and his wife Cynthia; step-son, Christopher S. Duncan and his wife Tori; and step-daughter, Trechon Gray. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren — Steven Wilborn, Jonathon Faith, Barret Faith, and Chelsea Edwards — and three great-grandchildren. His sister, Judith Franco, her husband Ted, and their sons, Eric and Robert hold him dear in their hearts.
Bob's professional journey began after graduating from Austin High School in El Paso. He pursued veterinary medicine at Texas A&M University, earning his DVM in 1968, and later achieved his Doctorate and PhD from the University of Florida in 1974. Throughout his career, Bob dedicated himself to the advancement of humane animal care and medical research. From Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK, as the Director of Animal Care Facilities, then to the University of Houston, and later as the Director of the Center for Comparative Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, he left an indelible mark on the field. His career eventually led him and his family to Wisconsin in 2002, where he retired from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2006, but continued to share his expertise through consultancy roles in Galveston, Texas, and for West Virginia University.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bob found immense joy in exploring the world and cherished his travels with Stacia. Bob took pride in cultivating the earth, and his backyard BBQs, where his masterfully smoked meats were legendary. His passion for genealogy led him on a journey through his family's history, while his love for music connected him deeply with the communities of Oconomowoc and his faith to Delafield Presbyterian Church. Known as the Texas music/musician historian, Bob's vast knowledge of all things Texas enriched the lives of those around him.
In honor of Bob's memory, the family kindly requests donations be made to the International Crane Foundation (https://savingcranes.org/), reflecting his love for nature and conservation. The family also extend heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors and staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center and Interventional Radiology at Aurora Summit, for their compassionate care and support throughout Bob's journey.
Bob's spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. A Celebration of Life is planned at Delafield Presbyterian Church on August 23, 2026. Visitation 2-4pm, Service at 4pm with dinner to follow.
