In Loving Memory
Dr. Elvis Wayne Crocker
October 2, 1942 — March 17, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Dr. Elvis Wayne Crocker on March 17, 2026, at the age of 83. He was surrounded by his devoted family in the serene embrace of Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS, as he gently left this world.
Born on October 2, 1942, in Bruce, MS, to Dr. E.B. Crocker Jr. and Nettie Brasher Crocker, Wayne was a man whose life was a testament to dedication, love, and community service. He is predeceased by his cherished parents and his beloved wife, Mildred, with whom he shared a remarkable 60 years of marriage. Their journey together began in Columbus, MS, on September 22, 1961, and was marked by unwavering love and partnership.
Wayne was a distinguished graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, earning his Doctorate in Pharmacy in 1964. His career as a pharmacist spanned five decades, during which he became a familiar and trusted figure in Calhoun City, owning Crocker Pharmacy on the square for 30 years. His dedication to his profession and his community culminated in his role as the head pharmacist at Fred's, where he worked until his retirement in 2003.
A man of faith, Wayne was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Calhoun City, where his melodious voice graced the choir. His commitment to service extended beyond his profession and church; he also served with distinction on the Calhoun County Board of Alderman for 15 years, contributing to the betterment of his community.
Wayne was a man of many passions. He was a devoted fan of the Ole Miss Rebels, holding season tickets for 20 years and cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. His love for nature was evident in his carefully tended garden and lush yard, where he found peace and fulfillment. He also loved his quiet time, which he spent doing lots of puzzles.
Despite his dry sense of humor, Wayne's love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in the hearts of his surviving family members: his three daughters, Amanda Tutor (Randy) of Pontotoc, Selena Magness (David) of Hernando, and Allison Enochs of Calhoun City. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Kayla Tutor (Troy), Ryan Magness (Laura), Cole Tutor (Laken), Kristina Sanders (Bradley), Evan Enochs, and Drew Enochs (Kadee), and a cherished great-grandfather of ten.
A private graveside service to honor Wayne will be held on March 22, 2026 at 2pm. This will be closed to family only.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time. They also express their deepest appreciation to the staff at NMHS and Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS, for their compassionate care.
In remembering Wayne, let us celebrate a man whose life was richly filled with faith, family, and community, and whose legacy will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know him. His spirit will forever be a guiding light, shining brightly in our hearts.
