November 10, 1957 — July 10, 2025
It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of Dr. Adebambo Mustapha Kadri, M.D., who departed this world on July 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, healing, and laughter. Born on November 10, 1957, in the vibrant city of Ijebu-Ode, Oyo State, Nigeria, Adebambo was the cherished son of the late Olatunji Safiriyu Kadri and Adenike Wosilat Kadri.
Adebambo's life was a testament to the power of dedication and kindness. From an early age, he exhibited an insatiable thirst for knowledge and an innate ability to connect with those around him. He attended Kings College in Nigeria, where his academic prowess shone brightly. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree and medical degree from the prestigious University of Ibadan College of Medicine. His pursuit of excellence led him across continents, where he completed a general surgery residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Albany Medical College, and an advanced cardiac surgery fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Kadri was a true citizen of the world, practicing medicine across Nigeria, Scotland, England, and the United States. His medical career was nothing short of illustrious, serving as a member of four royal colleges of surgeons in West Africa, Scotland, England, and America. He ultimately settled in Saginaw, Michigan, where he served as the Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon for mid-Michigan, touching countless lives with his skilled hands and compassionate heart.
In 1984, Adebambo married the love of his life, Anana Lucretia Kadri, in Nigeria after a beautiful courtship during the Nigerian Youth Call Service. Their 37-year union was a testament to love and partnership, raising two remarkable children, Adedayo Ikifah Kadri and Adenike Ebokide Kadri, across three continents. Anana predeceased him, and now they are reunited in eternal peace.
Adebambo's life was enriched by his passion for sports and music. An accomplished field hockey, squash, and tennis player, he also enjoyed the occasional round of golf. Sunday mornings were filled with the soulful melodies of his harmonica, and he could often be found strumming his air guitar to the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, Queen, and Carlos Santana.
To know Adebambo was to experience his infectious smile, witty humor, and boundless generosity. He had a unique gift for making everyone feel valued and welcome, whether they were family, friends, neighbors, patients, or strangers. His impact on the lives he touched was profound and lasting, and his memory will continue to inspire kindness and joy.
He is survived by his beloved children, Adedayo and Adenike, his devoted siblings Adewunmi, Adebowale, Adebimpe, and Adedeji, and a wide circle of extended family and friends. Though he leaves no grandchildren, his love and wisdom will forever be a guiding light for those who knew him.
Adebambo was an active member of numerous organizations, including his alma maters and esteemed surgical colleges, and he relished his time at the Saginaw Country Club. His life was a celebration of family, friends, and faith, leaving an indelible mark on every community he graced.
In this time of mourning, we find solace in the memories of a life well-lived. Adebambo was a loving son, a devoted husband, and an extraordinary father. He was a pillar of strength to his siblings, a fun-loving uncle, and a loyal friend. His enduring legacy lives on through his children and the countless lives he touched. May his gentle soul rest in heavenly peace, embraced by the Lord for all of eternity. Amen.
