It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doyle Dewayne Cross, who departed this world on July 26, 2026, at the age of 72. Doyle was born on June 28, 1954, in the welcoming town of Stuttgart, Arkansas, to his loving parents, Jake and Marie Cross. He was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, whose vibrant spirit and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew him. Doyle's journey began in Stuttgart, where he grew up surrounded by family and friends. He attended Stuttgart High School, where he developed a passion for athletics, particularly excelling in football. His talent and dedication earned him a place on Arkansas State University's 1975 undefeated football team. As a punt returner and defensive back, Doyle set a school record with 24 punt returns that year, a testament to his skill and determination on the field. Beyond his athletic achievements, Doyle was a man of many interests. In his younger years, he found joy in playing golf and softball, pursuits that mirrored his love for competition and camaraderie. He carried the same zest for life off the field, and his laughter and warmth were contagious to those around him. Doyle was deeply devoted to his family, who were the center of his world. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Jake and Marie Cross, and his son, Michael Chase Cross. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Amanda Denney, of Hampton, Virginia, and his adored granddaughter, Kennedy Grace DeLoach, of Russellville, Kentucky, who brought immense joy to his life. His legacy also lives on through his sisters, Kay (Billy) Lock of Athens, Texas, and Sandi (Bill) Holbert of Stuttgart, Arkansas, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and his special pet, "Big," who was a constant companion and source of happiness. Doyle's life was a testament to the power of love, perseverance, and community. His friends and family will forever remember his kindness, his unwavering loyalty, and his ability to make everyone feel valued and understood. As they reflect on the memories they shared with him, they find comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire them. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Doyle's memory to a charity of your choice, celebrating his generous spirit and his commitment to helping others. As we bid farewell to Doyle Dewayne Cross, we honor the remarkable life he led and the profound impact he had on those who were fortunate to know him. May his memory be a blessing to us all. Doyle was cremated. No service will be held per his request.
