Douglas McArthur Gosey

Douglas McArthur Gosey, born on April 2, 1961, in Many, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026. Douglas was the cherished son of the late Sylvia Ann and Robert Douglas Gosey. He was predeceased by his dear parents, his brothers Smokey, Doc, and Larry Gosey, Raymond, Roy, and June Alexander, his sisters Freddie Mae Scott and Helen Williams, and his son, Douglas Marquis Hudson. Despite the profound loss of these loved ones, Douglas found joy and strength in the family who survived him. He leaves behind his devoted fiancée, Daphne Garner of Shreveport, LA, who was his partner and confidante, and his children: Rodney Garner of Shreveport, LA, Willie Lee Hudson of Zwolle, LA, Jayden Shiers of Natchez, LA, Sylvia M. Garner of Leesville, LA, and Shajuana Hudson of Zwolle, LA. Douglas was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of his life. Douglas is also survived by his brothers, Larry (Michelle) Preston of Lake Havasu, AZ, Calvin Preston of Lawrence, Mass, and Bobbie Gosey of Houston, TX; his sisters, Alice Hawkins of Douglasville, GA, and Charlotte (John) Woods of Fresno, TX. His extended family, including numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, will remember him fondly for his generosity and kindness. From an early age, Douglas exhibited a tenacity and determination that would define his life's journey. After attending Many Jr High and Many High School, he joined the Job Corps, where he completed high school and earned his diploma. His education paved the way for a successful career working offshore, a testament to his hard work and dedication. Douglas was a man of many passions, chief among them his love for the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, often sharing stories of his adventures with enthusiasm and delight. His quick wit and warm smile were hallmarks of his character, endearing him to everyone he met. Douglas was a man of conviction, known for speaking his mind and living by his principles. Throughout his life, Douglas remained deeply connected to his roots and his faith. His time spent at Bethel and Sunday School classes was treasured and often reflected in conversations about the Lord. He imparted his values and beliefs to those around him, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
