Douglas Joseph DeCicco, a cherished member of the Hillsborough community and beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on July 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 24, 1935, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Doug lived a life full of warmth, compassion, and service to others. Doug was the proud son of Victoria and Joseph DeCicco, who both predeceased him, as did his beloved wife, Patricia DeCicco. He is survived by his devoted children: Dean DeCicco and his wife Bernadeen of Gahanna, Ohio; Victoria Forktus and her husband Mark of Yardley, Pennsylvania; Joanne Walch and her husband Michael of Scotch Plains, New Jersey; and Douglas DeCicco, Jr., and his wife Mary Agnes of Holland, Pennsylvania. Doug was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. After graduating from Princeton High School in 1953, Doug served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, Doug found his true calling as a barber, dedicating over 70 years to his craft. In 1959, he founded the Hillsborough Barber Shop, which became a cornerstone of the community and a place where friendships flourished over the decades. Doug's generosity and kindness were hallmarks of his character. He was a long-time resident of Hillsborough, New Jersey, where he was known for his philanthropic efforts. For many years, Doug partnered with Weichert Realtors and the Hillsborough Public Schools to provide bicycles and helmets to children in need during the Christmas season. His selfless contributions were formally recognized by the office of the mayor of Hillsborough Township, lauding him as an outstanding member of the community. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick, NJ, for their dedicated care over the past four years. A service to honor and celebrate Doug's life will be held on July 14, 2026, at 5:05 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made in Doug's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of giving and community support. Doug's legacy of love, kindness, and community service will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
