Douglas Chandler "Doug" King, a remarkable man known for his adventurous spirit and deep spirituality, passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on March 25, 1934, in Weatherford, Texas, Doug was the beloved son of J. Preston King and Cordi McDaniel King, who preceded him in death, along with his son Phillip King.
Doug's life was a testament to his free spirit and unwavering faith. As a deacon at Bethany Christian Church, Doug dedicated much of his life to his spiritual community, offering guidance and support to all who knew him. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he was known for his ability to pray with heartfelt sincerity and deep conviction.
Doug's adventurous nature was evident in his love for walking. He embarked on an extraordinary journey, walking from the beaches of California to the beaches of North Carolina. Without owning a car, Doug embraced the freedom of the open road, savoring the beauty of the world with each step. His travels were filled with laughter and joy, and his unique sense of humor brought smiles to many faces along the way.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Adabelle King, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He also leaves behind his cherished son, Stephen King, and his dear daughter, Mickey Roach. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A service to celebrate Doug's life will be held on August 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Annetta Cemetery, located at 2700 W FM Road 5, Annetta, Texas 76008. Family, friends, and all whose lives Doug touched are invited to attend and honor his remarkable journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Bethany Christian Church in Doug's memory, to continue his legacy of faith and service.
Doug King will forever be remembered for his boundless spirit, his deep spirituality, and the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
