Dottie Ann Bean, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was born on October 13, 1948, in Maysville, Kentucky, Dottie was 77 years old at the time of her passing.
Dottie was the beloved daughter of the late William Cornelius Bean and Dorothy Moran Bean. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Cornelius Bean, Jr. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Diane Bean, and her niece and nephew, Katrina and Joshua, who held a special place in her heart.
A proud graduate of Mason County High School, Dottie pursued her passion for storytelling by studying Journalism at the University of Kentucky. Her love for words and dedication to the truth led her to a fulfilling career with the Lexington Herald-Leader, where she served both as a reporter and assistant editor. Dottie's legacy in journalism is marked by her unwavering integrity and her talent for capturing the human spirit in every story she told.
Dottie's professional journey continued as a public information officer for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. Upon retiring, Dottie left behind a legacy of excellence and service that will be remembered by many.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dottie was an active member of the Tates Creek Christian Church. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she found great joy in participating in the Willing Workers Class. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Dottie's life on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Services will be held at 3:00 PM at Tates Creek Christian Church, located at 3150 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, KY (Use Entrance A). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Tates Creek Christian Church Memorial Fund.
