It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorthy Curley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on July 6, 2026, due to natural causes. At the age of 92, Dorthy left behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Born on June 1, 1934, in El Dorado, Arkansas, Dorthy was a beacon of light from the very beginning. Growing up in a close-knit family, she cherished the bonds she shared with her sisters, who preceded her in death and whom she missed dearly. Dorthy was a woman of immense warmth and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer her wise counsel. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, music, and the comforting aroma of her famous southern cooking. Family gatherings were her delight, where she would regale everyone with stories from her youth, her wit and humor leaving all in stitches. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and decisions. As a devoted member of the Douglas Chapter Missionary Baptist Church, she found great joy in serving her community and supporting those in need. Her presence was a blessing to many, and her absence will be profoundly felt. Dorthy's life will be celebrated on August 8, 2026, at 2:30 PM at the Douglas Chapter Missionary Baptist Church, located at 969 Smackover Highway. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and to share in the joy of her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Dorthy's legacy of giving and compassion. Though she has departed from this earthly realm, Dorthy Curley's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the loved ones who have gone before her.
