July 13, 1939 — June 1, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dorsey Thomas Cutler, who departed this life on June 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 13, 1939, in the serene environs of Accomack County, Virginia, Dorsey was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and unwavering support throughout his 86 remarkable years. Dorsey was the cherished son of the late Sussie Esther Cutler and Ira Thomas Cutler, who nurtured in him the values of generosity and resilience that would distinguish his life. Dorsey was preceded in death by his dear parents but leaves behind a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends. On April 17, 1986, Dorsey married the love of his life, MLynette Cutler, who remains his devoted partner and confidante. Their love story was one of laughter, companionship, and mutual respect—a testament to a bond that transcended the ordinary. Together, they built a life rich in love, surrounded by the warmth of family. Dorsey was the proud father of three sons: Ira, Ahmad, and Jamal Cutler, all of whom inherited his strength of character and dedication to family. His role as a grandfather to four grandchildren and a great-grandfather to one brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He cherished every moment spent with his family, teaching them the importance of giving and selflessness. A man of great integrity and dedication, Dorsey began his working life at Joseph Blinks during his teenage years. His ambitions led him to Bethlehem Steel Company in the mid-1950s, where he honed his skills and work ethic. In 1972, he found his true calling at MTA, formerly known as Baltimore Transit Company (BTC). It was here that Dorsey spent the remainder of his career, serving with pride and leaving an indelible mark on his colleagues and community. Dorsey was not only a hardworking man but also a passionate enthusiast of classic cars. His love for Lincolns, Cadillacs, and Buicks was well known, as was his penchant for reading the newspaper and car magazines. Yet, above all, he was known as a giver—a gentle giant who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need, regardless of the time or circumstance. His kindness, humility, and dedication were evident in every facet of his life. Dorsey was the epitome of selflessness, often placing the needs of others before his own. His ability to make people smile and feel valued was unparalleled, and he taught those around him the importance of appreciating life and expressing gratitude. A service to honor and celebrate Dorsey's life will be held on June 11, 2026, at 10:30 AM at John Williams Funeral Directors, P.A., located at 1727 N Monroe St, Baltimore, MD 21217. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for Dorsey during his time in Saint Joseph, Northwest, and Sinai Hospitals. Dorsey often said, "Give me my flowers while I'm living," and "Every day above ground is a good day." Let us remember him by carrying forward his legacy of kindness and love. In honoring his memory, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man dearly loved.
