It is with heavy hearts and profound admiration that we announce the passing of Dorothy Norman, a beacon of love and laughter, who left this world on March 29, 2026. At the age of 86, Dorothy departed peacefully, enveloped in the love of her cherished family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and wisdom that will forever guide her beloved children and grandchildren.
Born on February 26, 1940, in Monroe, Georgia, Dorothy was the treasured daughter of Greg and Mary Norman. Her upbringing in a close-knit family, alongside her late brother Maxwell, laid the foundation for a life characterized by deep familial bonds and unwavering compassion.
Dorothy’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and community. A devoted mother, she is survived by her cherished children: Johnny Ray Norman Jr., Joshua Norman, Erica Norman, and Cheyenne Norman. Her nurturing spirit and boundless affection extended to her nine adored grandchildren: Isabel Powell, Rachel Norman, Henry Norman, Lucas Norman, Brittany Norman, Johnny Ray Norman III, Anthony Smith, Elena Smith, and Roger Smith. Each of them carries forward her legacy of kindness and joy.
A woman of enduring faith, Dorothy was an active member of the First Baptist Church for over three decades. Her presence in the church community was marked by her generosity, her infectious smile, and her unwavering belief in the power of faith and fellowship.
Dorothy’s passions were as vibrant as her spirit. She found immense joy in cooking, where her kitchen was a sanctuary of flavors and aromas that brought the family together. Her love of telling jokes filled rooms with laughter, a reflection of her belief in the healing power of humor and joy.
A service to celebrate Dorothy’s remarkable life will be held on April 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Lawrenceville Chapel, located at 120 Scenic Highway S, Lawrenceville, Georgia. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and a soul dearly loved.
As we bid farewell to Dorothy, we hold close the memories of her unwavering love, her gentle wisdom, and her infectious laughter. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church in Dorothy’s honor, a tribute to the faith and community that were so dear to her heart.
