Dorothy Lewis (Harris)

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dorothy Lewis (Harris), who left this world peacefully on August 31, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on November 17, 1966, in the vibrant city of Richmond, Virginia, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of Alton and Rachel Harris, who have both predeceased her, as has her brother, Stephen Harris. Dorothy was a woman of grace and strength, whose life was a testament to kindness and compassion. A 1985 graduate of Lafayette High School, she cherished her education and often spoke fondly of her time there, where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for her life’s work and passions. Her family was the center of her universe. Dorothy was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Michelle Lewis and Vanessa Lewis, who were the light of her life. Her love extended warmly to her grandchildren—Serenity, Elery, Ivory, and Benjamin—each of whom she adored with all her heart. Her nurturing spirit and gentle guidance left a lasting impression on their young lives. Dorothy is survived by her beloved brothers, Vincent, Alton Jr., Glen, and Charles, and her sisters Sherlene, Barbara, Valerie, and Allison, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was also cherished by a host of nephews and nieces who basked in her warmth and wisdom. Dorothy's legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering faith. Her generosity and kindness were felt by all who knew her, as she touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and compassionate nature. Her home was always open, her smile ever-present, and her heart always full. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Dorothy's memory, celebrating her life by giving back to those in need as she so often did. Dorothy's presence will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved and in the countless lives she touched.
