Dorothy Feltman Lough

Dorothy Feltman Lough, passed away on April 1, 2026 in Venice Florida, at the age of 93. Born on May 7, 1932, in Peekskill, NY, Dorothy was the daughter of Webster Feltman and Lena Mason. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the simple joys that come from family, friendship, and adventure. Dorothy was the devoted wife of the late Francis V. Lough, with whom she shared 41 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they crafted a life filled with laughter, love, and extraordinary memories. Her heart was expansive, welcoming and nurturing a blended family that brought her endless joy and pride. A proud alumnus of Peekskill High School, Class of 1950, Dorothy ventured into the professional world as a secretary for The Highland Broadcasting Corp. Her career was marked by dedication and precision, qualities that she carried into every aspect of her life. Dorothy's passions were as varied as they were vibrant. An avid gardener, she found solace, joy and satisfaction in her garden. Her holiday baked goods were always loved and appreciated by her family. Dorothy’s affinity for words and puzzles was legendary; she was a master of crossword puzzles, and her competitive spirit shone in games of Scrabble, and she would challenge herself to a good jigsaw puzzle. Family was the cornerstone of Dorothy's life. She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Francis, her brothers John and David McCarthy, her sisters Henrietta DeRonda and Helen Peters, her grandson Michael Lough, her stepsons Francis and Richard, and stepson-in-law Michael Dono. Her legacy continues through her surviving family: her sister Virginia "Pinky" Simpson, her brother Kenneth Feltman and his wife Pamela, her stepchildren Robert Lough and Nancy, Dorothy Dono, John Lough and his wife Julia, Bernadette Schmitt, Mary Lough-Normile with her husband Thomas and Thomas Lough and his wife Lisa. Dorothy was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each holding a special place in her heart, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored. She and Francis explored the world together in their retirement, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her loving spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she spent cherished moments reading books with her grandchildren, instilling in them a love for stories and learning. she would also take time to reach the art on knitting to whomever would care to give it a go. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dorothy’s remarkable life at a service on April 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Home, located at 62 Bowdoin St, Winthrop, ME. A graveside service will follow at a later date at The Holy Family Cemetery in Augusta, ME. In our hearts, Dorothy remains a symbol of love, perseverance, and joy. Her spirit lives on in her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we say goodbye, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared with this lovely woman, whose legacy will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
