It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Dorothy “Dot” Elizabeth (Buckley) Cusick, who left this world peacefully on July 5, 2026, at Kingston Residence of Fort Wayne, Indiana, surrounded by those who loved her most. Born on September 15, 1946, in Calcutta, Ohio, Dorothy was a beacon of love, warmth, and compassion to all who knew her. Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Donald and Mary (Reeves) Buckley. Her early years in Calcutta set the foundation for a life rich in love, learning, and laughter. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her dear brother, Donald Buckley, but their memories continued to inspire and guide her throughout her life. A proud graduate of Beaver Local High School, Dorothy embarked on a career in bookkeeping, lending her skills to various companies over two decades. Her journey culminated at Weisser Park Elementary School, where she found immense joy and fulfillment working as an aide. Dorothy retired in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and love for her students and colleagues. Dorothy's life was a tapestry of cherished moments spent with family and friends. She was the loving mother of two daughters, Kimberly (Cusick) Goodwin (Andy Goodwin) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Rebecca (Cusick) Wright (Steven Fanning) of Fishers, Indiana, who carry forward her spirit and values. Her granddaughters, Madison and Bailey Goodwin, were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in watching them grow. Her passions extended beyond family; Dorothy had an unwavering love for gardening, travel, and card games. Florida was a favorite destination, a place where she found tranquility and joy. Her home and heart were always open to furry companions, specifically dogs, who brought her endless happiness. Dorothy's kindness was her hallmark. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and her generosity touched countless lives. Her legacy is one of warmth, sincerity, and an unyielding commitment to making the world a better place. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Kingston Residence of Fort Wayne and Solace Hospice for their incredible care and support during Dorothy’s final days. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in her honor to Solace Hospice, care of Roanoke, Indiana, as a tribute to the dedicated care she received. Dorothy Elizabeth (Buckley) Cusick will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her, a testament to a life well-lived and a love deeply shared.
