Dorothy (Dottie)

March 6, 1943 — July 10, 2026

March 6, 1943 – July 10, 2026 It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy "Dottie" Sandusky on July 10, 2026, at her home. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on March 6, 1943, Dottie was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the beauty of family, friendship, and community. Dottie was the beloved daughter of Martin and Evelyn Gross and grew up alongside her brother, Bob Gross, in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston High School and later attended Business College in Washington, Pennsylvania, where she honed the skills that would serve her throughout her life. On September 3, 1966, Dottie married the love of her life, Jerry Sandusky. Together, they built a nurturing and loving home filled with laughter and joy, raising their children, EJ and Heather Feaster, Ray and Kim, Kara and Andy Werner, Jeff, Jon, and Kia. Dottie's heart was open and full, and she embraced not only her children but also her ten grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Dottie's career was centered around her greatest passion—her family. As a devoted mother and housewife, she poured her heart into creating a warm and welcoming home. Her talents extended beyond the household, as she shared her grace and organizational skills as a hostess and secretary. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was an active member of the St. College Christian Missionary Church in State College, Pennsylvania. Her church community was an important part of her life, and she cherished the friendships she formed there. Dottie's legacy is one of love, generosity, and kindness. She found joy in cooking and sharing meals with family and friends, always ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and cherished in her home. Her gracious spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Evelyn, and her brother, Bob, Dottie is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry, their children and their spouses, and her ten grandchildren. Her memory will be a guiding light for her family and friends, who will carry her love with them always. The family invites those who wish to honor Dottie's memory to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, in lieu of flowers. This gesture would be a fitting tribute to a woman who gave so much of herself to others. As we bid farewell to Dottie, we hold her close in our hearts, grateful for the love and light she brought into our lives. Her spirit will continue to inspire us as we remember her with fondness and gratitude.
