On March 13, 2026, the world lost a remarkable soul, Dorothy Denese Holman Pouncil, who departed this life surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 2, 1954, in the heart of Texas, Dorothy's journey was one marked by love, dedication, and unwavering strength. Dorothy was born to Thedus Taylor and lovingly raised by Suzanne Lions, both of whom preceded her in death. She is now reunited with them in eternal peace. Throughout her life, Dorothy embodied the values instilled in her by her parents, values that she passed down to her own family with grace and devotion. Dorothy's heart was her family, and she was the proud mother of six children: Kimberly Holman, Michelle Holman Sutton, Laquedra Holman, Herbert Holman, Phinita Holman, and one more cherished member. Her legacy continues through her 17 grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy and pride. Through Kimberly, she was blessed with Johnnetta Ralls, John Ralls, Montay Holman, and Mysha Holman. Michelle gifted her Marquis Holman, Marquall Holman, and Jamesha Abraham. Laquedra blessed her with Rockale Holman, Larnell Watson, Isiah, Malik, Deshawna Coppage, and Trail. Herbert brought Martell Maggitt and Marnae Maggitt into her life, and Phinita completed the circle with Davyon Holman and Gregory Holman. Her love extended even further to her 12 great-grandchildren, who were a source of happiness and laughter. Educated through college, Dorothy dedicated over 30 years of her professional life to the Internal Revenue Service, where she was known for her diligence and commitment. Her colleagues and friends remember her as a beacon of integrity and warmth, someone who approached every challenge with a calm and steady resolve. Dorothy had a zest for life that was truly inspiring. She loved to travel, exploring new places and creating cherished memories with her family. Her adventures brought stories of joy and wonder that her loved ones will forever hold dear. The thrill of the casino was another favorite pastime, where she found laughter and moments of pure enjoyment. At home, Dorothy's heart belonged to her beloved dogs, her loyal companions who provided her with comfort and unconditional love. Her family shares a special message that echoes Dorothy's spirit: "Her Strength Rises With the Morning.” A woman whose life was rooted in giving, Dorothy built up her family with love and courage, walking with wisdom and standing with dignity. Her journey does not end here, for love is eternal, and her spirit lives on in every heart she touched. As we say goodbye to Dorothy Denese Holman Pouncil, we find comfort in her memory, guidance in her lessons, and light in her legacy—a light that will never fade. Her children rise and call her blessed, and her life will forever be celebrated by those who knew her. In honor of Dorothy's life, her family encourages donations to the local animal shelter, a cause close to her heart. May she rest in peace, enveloped in the love she gave so freely and remembered with warmth and admiration by all who had the privilege to know her.
