Dorothy Ann Orr
October 30, 1955 — August 9, 2026
Dorothy Ann Orr, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, at the Maury Regional Hospital. Born on October 30, 1955, in Columbia, Tennessee, Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Charlie Wesley Orr and Savannah Gordon Orr. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Dorothy's early years were spent in the vibrant community of Mt. Pleasant, where she attended Clark High School and graduated with the class of 1973. Her warmth and bright spirit shone through in all her endeavors, including her participation in the school chorus and the local Ruth organization.
Dorothy dedicated over 20 years of her professional life to her work at AMO, where she was known not only for her diligence but also for her compassionate nature. She was a pillar of strength and support for her colleagues until her health began to decline.
Family was at the heart of Dorothy's life. She was a devoted mother to Angela (Terrence) McCoy and Labonne Orr, and a proud grandmother to five adoring grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.
Dorothy's love for shopping, particularly through QVC and HSN, was well-known among her family and friends. She had an eye for beauty and a knack for finding just the right thing to bring joy to those she loved.
Though predeceased by her brother Larry Orr and nephew Lamont Orr, Dorothy's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her presence brought warmth and compassion to her community and to the many lives she touched.
A service in celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Wayman Chapel AME Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Dorothy's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
