Dorothy Ann Newman, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on January 30, 1943, in Highland Park, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of Marvin and Helen Leslie, who predeceased her.
Dorothy was a radiant beacon of love and kindness, whose life was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to her family and community. She married the love of her life, Richard W. Newman, on July 30, 1965. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and shared dreams, celebrating 61 beautiful years of marriage. Dorothy and Richard's union was blessed with three wonderful children: Theodore (Kristin) Newman, Richard (Kelly) Newman, and Lisa (Walt) LaTorre. Her legacy of warmth and compassion lives on through her children, her seven adored grandchildren, and two precious great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a proud sister to her surviving brothers, Dennis (Carol) Leslie and Darryl Leslie, who remember her as a source of strength and joy throughout their lives.
A devoted member of the Momentum Christian Church, Dorothy’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her commitment to her church and community was evident in her active participation in numerous events and charitable endeavors. Her kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her, and her presence was a blessing to everyone she encountered.
Dorothy had a zest for life that was infectious. She was known for her love of playing games on her computer, a pastime that brought her much joy and satisfaction. Her laughter and light-hearted spirit were a constant reminder of the simple pleasures that life offers.
