It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ann Dunham, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Dorothy departed this world peacefully at her home on February 21, 2026, surrounded by the warmth of her loving family, at the age of 76. Born on June 23, 1949, in the quaint town of Washington, Georgia, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late Eunice Fordham. She was predeceased by her dear mother and her brother, Freddie Fordham, whose memories she cherished with all her heart. Dorothy's journey through life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family. For 56 beautiful years, she shared her life with her beloved husband, Cornell Dunham, with whom she built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Together, they nurtured a family that became the cornerstone of her existence. Dorothy's legacy lives on through her children, Demetric Trinea Poole, Cornell Dunham Jr., and Zhanta Latorre Dunham, who is married to Tenika Dunham. Her love extended to her five grandchildren: Keerra Nicole Fordham-Williams, Jair Dunham, Seraiah Dunham, Tre Dunham, and Ziyah Dunham, and her precious great-grandchild, Shylah Taylor. Dorothy also leaves behind her brother, Terry Fordham, and her beloved aunt, Annie Bell Norman, who were significant presences in her life. A phenomenal chef, Dorothy's culinary talents were renowned both in the restaurant industry and within her family circle. She delighted in preparing sumptuous feasts, especially during Thanksgiving, when family members gathered from near and far to savor her delicious dishes. Her kitchen was not just a place of cooking but a space where love was served with every meal. Dorothy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished her time spent at the beach, basking in the serenity of the waves, and valued every moment shared with her family. Her love for them was unconditional and boundless, and her presence was a source of warmth and comfort. Known for her unique "side stare" that could halt any mischief in its tracks, Dorothy was loving, warm, and truly unique. A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at A.E. Grier & Sons Funeral and Cremation, located at 2310 Statesville Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28206. Family and friends are invited to remember Dorothy's life and the joy she brought into the world. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we find solace in the words of Psalm 23, which reflect Dorothy's deep faith: "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want... Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." Dorothy Ann Dunham's life was a testament to love, faith, and family. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She touched many lives with her kindness, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
