Doris woodlief
March 29, 1948 — October 31, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Woodlief on October 31, 2026. Doris was born on March 29, 1948, in Washington D.C., to Earl Woodlief and Alma Donaldson. She was lovingly raised by her dear Aunt Ruby W. Bialkowski, all of whom predeceased her.
Doris was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Annette Church Ahrend, and her fiance Larry Palmer. Her loving sister, Yvonne Matthias, and her grandchildren, John Dustin Michalek and Brittany Nicole Ahrend, will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. Doris is also survived by her nephews, Joseph A. Matthias and Stephen J. Matthias, and Stephen's fiance Sirinat.
Doris graduated from high school and dedicated much of her life to working in various convenience stores throughout Richmond, where she formed lasting connections with those around her. She was a devoted member of her church and was actively involved in its community, her faith serving as a guiding light throughout her life.
Her love for animals was evident in her affection for cats and birds, and she had a special fondness for snowmen. Those who knew Doris would often find comfort in her warm embrace and gentle hand-holding. She was a resident of the Hi Oaks apartments, where she enjoyed participating in all the activities and cherished the friendships she made there.
Doris spent her later years as a resident of the Fredericksburg Rehab Center, where she was cared for with kindness and compassion. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff who supported Doris during her time there.
A service to honor and celebrate Doris's life will be held on November 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the Falmouth Cemetery in Stafford, VA. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the remembrance of a life filled with love and warmth.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Doris's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization she deeply admired.
Doris Woodlief will be remembered for her boundless love, her gentle spirit, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy of warmth and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
