It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Doris Thompson, who left this world on March 26, 2026, at the age of 94. Doris departed this life as she lived it—peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 6, 1931, in the lush landscapes of Belize, Central America, Doris was the cherished daughter of Joseph and Felipe. Her early years in Belize were filled with the vibrant culture and natural beauty of her homeland, which instilled in her a lifelong appreciation for the simple joys of life. Doris was predeceased by her dear children Nimpha, John, Santiago, Kathleen, and Howard (affectionately known as Pete), and she carried their memories with her throughout her days. Despite these profound losses, Doris remained a pillar of strength and resilience, dedicating her life to the nurturing and care of her extensive family. As a devoted matriarch, Doris leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that is carried on by her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends. Her family was her greatest joy and accomplishment, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was blessed with 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, each one holding a special place in her heart. Doris had an extraordinary ability to connect with others, offering a listening ear and thoughtful advice. Her loving, caring, and informative nature made her a treasured confidante and a beacon of comfort to all who knew her. Her home was always open, a sanctuary where laughter and love were freely shared. Doris had a profound love for gardening, finding peace and fulfillment in tending to her plants. She found beauty in every bloom and solace in watching the birds that visited her garden. These simple pleasures were a testament to her appreciation for life's understated wonders. A celebration of Doris's remarkable life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Havens, located at 880 Havens Road, Shreveport, LA 71107. Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in honoring her memory and sharing in the joy of her life. In this time of mourning, we hold close the words of her family: "As the matriarch of our family, you will be beyond missed, GG. We will always love you." These words echo the sentiment of all who had the privilege of knowing Doris and experiencing the profound impact of her love. Doris Thompson's spirit will continue to flourish in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy will endure through the countless lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love she so generously shared. Please take a moment to share in the Lord's Prayer with us: "Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."
