In Loving Memory

Doris Robinson
November 9, 1948 — April 27, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Robinson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, who left this world on April 27, 2026, at the age of 77. Doris passed away peacefully after a courageous fight with heart and kidney disease, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.
Doris was born on November 9, 1948, in Hamlet, North Carolina, to Edmond and Gladys Robinson Jr., who were affectionately known as Mr. and Mrs. Stringbean from New Orleans. Raised alongside her siblings, Edmond Creola Robinson, Harvey Helen Little, and Gladys Evon Robinson, Doris was instilled with values of kindness, resilience, and a deep sense of family.
Her journey in education began at William Penn Senior High School in High Point, North Carolina, where she showcased her musical talents in the marching band as a clarinet player. After moving to Roanoke, Virginia, Doris completed her high school education at Lucy B. Addison Senior High School in 1967. She pursued higher education at Winston Salem State University in North Carolina, initially studying Nursing before finding her true calling in General Accounting at Guilford Technical Community College, from which she graduated with an Associate’s Degree.
Doris's professional career was as diverse and inspiring as her life. She began as a nurse’s assistant, first at Burrell Memorial Hospital in Roanoke and later at High Point Memorial Hospital. In 1981, she transitioned into accounting at LADD Furniture, dedicating over 15 years to her role. Her skills and dedication led her to serve as Financial Controller at Lincoln-Gerard USA. Around 2000, she embraced a new chapter as a sales clerk at Belk Department Store, where she worked for over 17 years until her retirement.
A dedicated member of the First Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 50 years, Doris served her church with unwavering commitment as Church Clerk, Financial Secretary, and Pastor's Aide President. Her love for music was evident through her involvement in various choirs, including the Joy Bells of HPNC, FEBC Young Adult Choir, Voices of Unity, and the LWBC Women's Community Choir.
Doris's heart was as vast as her talents. She was passionate about mentoring youth, instilling in them the values she held dear. Her grandchildren—Johnathan Tyler Autry Sr., Dylan Jermaine Autry, Madison Renee Autry, Kennedy Marie Robinson, and London Evon Robinson—were her greatest treasures, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Doris's life was a symphony of kindness, wisdom, and strength. Her tender, humble nature made her a beacon of compassion, while her firm resolve guided her through life's challenges. This rare blend of qualities left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
She is predeceased by her parents, Edmond and Gladys, and her brothers, Edward Thomas Robinson and Curtis Robinson. Her legacy lives on through her son, Kenneth Tracey Robinson, her grandchildren, her siblings, and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends, including Ella Lawson, Carol Leake, Shirley Petty, Celestine Lindsey, and Donna Johnson.
A service to celebrate Doris's life will be held on May 7, 2026, at 12:00 PM at First Emmanuel Baptist Church, 833 Leonard Ave, High Point, NC, 27260. On behalf of our family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care provided to Doris during her kidney dialysis treatments.
