It is with deep reverence and tender hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Porterfield Kiser, who peacefully departed this world on June 6, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her cherished family. Born on July 4, 1930, in the quaint Mt. Willing Community of Lowndes County, Alabama, Doris embodied the warmth and kindness of a true Southern spirit, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know her.
Doris was the beloved daughter of Oliver George Porterfield and Synie Elizabeth (Barganier) Porterfield, who instilled in her the values of compassion and generosity that she carried throughout her life. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 64 years, Roy O'Neal Kiser, Sr., whom she married on October 13, 1948, in Montgomery, Alabama. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter until Roy's passing in 2013. Doris was also preceded in death by her brother, Oliver B. Porterfield.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Doris leaves behind her loving children, Debra Kiser Bolin (Jeff) of Spring, Texas, and Roy O. Kiser, Jr. (Sara) of The Villages, Florida. Her heart was full with pride for her grandchildren, Andrew Bolin (Girlfriend Heather Bucharski), Emilea Bolin-Looper (Daniel), both of Conroe, Texas, and Haley Macaluso (John) of Spring, Texas. Her legacy continues through her great-grandson, Russell Looper of Conroe, Texas, who brought her immense joy in her later years.
Doris was a pillar of strength and support to her extended family, including her nieces and nephews, Randy and Cecilia Porterfield, Stephen and Donna Porterfield, Ronald Porterfield, Sandra Kiser Lamar, Barbara Kiser Koenig, and their families. She also leaves behind countless friends in Montgomery and the warm community at Paradise Springs Retirement Community in Spring, Texas, where her caring nature was a beacon of comfort and friendship.
In her professional life, Doris worked as a dedicated bookkeeper for Tully Andrew's Cleaners, where her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering integrity were highly valued. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her long-standing membership with the Church of Christ, first at Dalraida in Montgomery and later at The Church of Christ in Champions, Houston, Texas, after moving to be closer to her daughter.
Doris's life was one of service and love. She was known for her card ministry, touching lives with her thoughtful notes and her special Auburn Christmas cards, which brought smiles and warmth to many during the holiday season. Her ability to connect with people was unparalleled, and she made it her mission to make new acquaintances feel like old friends, fostering a sense of belonging and community wherever she went.
The life of Doris Porterfield Kiser will be celebrated with a service at Leak-Memory Chapel, located at 945 Lincoln Rd., Montgomery, AL 36109. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we remember Doris not with tears of sadness, but with gratitude for a life well-lived and the countless memories she leaves behind. She will forever be in our hearts, guiding us with her gentle spirit and boundless love.
