In Loving Memory of Doris Jean Sharp
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Doris Jean Sharp on April 14, 2026, at the age of 97. She departed this world from the comforting home of her youngest son, Phil Sharp, in the presence of her beloved daughter, Jean King, and entered the embrace of Glory with grace and serenity.
Born on September 16, 1928, in the charming town of Cumberland, Maryland, Doris was the cherished daughter of Reverend and Mrs. Edgar Barrick. Her life was a testament to faith, love, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge. Doris was predeceased by her devoted husband, Kenneth Sharp, her brother Osmonde Barrick, and her sister Miriam Cook, all of whom she held dear in her heart.
Doris was a woman of remarkable strength and unwavering faith, having dedicated her life to her family and her Savior. Her relationship with the Lord Jesus and her Heavenly Father was the cornerstone of her life, and she imparted this profound love and devotion to her children, ensuring that it would flourish through generations.
Beyond her spiritual guidance, Doris was a woman of immense talent and curiosity. She spent 14 transformative years living in Calcutta, India, a testament to her adventurous spirit and love for learning. She furthered her education at the Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri, where she deepened her understanding of her faith and vocation.
Doris was an artist at heart, finding joy in painting, photography, and sewing. Her creative pursuits reflected her vibrant personality and her remarkable ability to find beauty in the world around her.
Doris's legacy is carried forward by her loving children: Ron Sharp and his wife Mary, Jim Sharp and his wife Debbie, Phil Sharp and his wife Gina, and her only daughter Jean Renee' King. Her enduring spirit lives on in her five grandchildren—Misty (Kris) Cummings, Ryan (Nicole) Sharp, Neal (Cheyanne) King, Victoria King, and Colby King—as well as her four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Ava, Owen, and Jenna, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Doris and Kenneth's love story began on a beautiful June day, when they pledged their lives to one another in marriage. Together, they created a family bound by love and faith, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know them.
In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Doris's life, allowing her family to gather in intimate remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched their lives so profoundly.
As we bid farewell to Doris Jean Sharp, we celebrate a life filled with love, devotion, and creativity. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come. In her own words, she taught us to love deeply and walk in faith, and it is with these lessons that we carry her memory forward.
May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of her Heavenly Father, and forever cherished in our hearts.
