Born on August 23, 1939, in the charming town of Brookhaven, Mississippi, Doris was surrounded by the love of her family as she peacefully departed this world.
Doris was the beloved daughter of Everette Leon White and Mary Rebecca Stickland White. Preceded in death by her cherished parents, her devoted husband of 49 years, George Earl Winborne, and her siblings JR White, Mavin White, Juanita White Golman, and Katie Nell White Smith, Doris leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, deeply rooted in the foundation of family and faith that she and George built together.
She was the adored mother of Timothy Earl Winborne and his wife Marsha, and Stan Everette Winborne and his wife Sandy. Doris found immense joy and fulfillment in her role as a grandmother to six grandchildren: Jonathan Miles Winborne (Megan), Jeremy Nelson Winborne (Devon), Joshua Earl Winborne (Landen), Terah Elizabeth Shelby (Jake), Lindsey Elise Winborne, and Dylan Everette Winborne (Meredith). Her love extended further to her eight great-grandchildren: Miles Jay Winborne, Oaklyn Ross Winborne, Elliot Rose Winborne, Olivia Lynn Winborne, Ann Nelson Winborne, Stetson Owen Shelby, Lucas Earl Winborne, and Katherine Elise Shelby, who will carry forward her enduring spirit.
In 1966, Doris and George embarked on a new chapter of their lives by establishing Positive Pest Control, a testament to their dedication and hard work that continues to thrive as a part of their enduring legacy. Known for her professionalism and commitment to excellence, Doris forged lasting friendships and partnerships throughout her career, leaving a significant impact on all who had the honor of working with her.
Doris was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years, embodying the principles of faith and service that were central to her life. Her commitment to community service was evident through her lifelong membership and leadership within the Lions Club, where she served as President for several years. Doris was also a passionate advocate for education and youth development, generously supporting Ruth Private School and Brookhaven Academy, and playing a pivotal role in organizing one of Brookhaven’s first T-ball teams.
Her vibrant spirit extended beyond community service to her love of sports and family activities. Always present at games, recitals, and events, Doris was her family's greatest cheerleader, finding immense joy in celebrating their achievements.
Doris's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and profound love. She possessed a remarkable ability to touch lives with her kindness and compassion, forming deep connections with those around her. Her strength, determination, and leadership inspired many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
