August 26, 1934 — October 12, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Doris A. Laine, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on October 12, 2026. Doris was born on August 26, 1934, in Huelin, Minnesota, on the picturesque shores of Upper Red Lake, to parents Harry and Vera (Rutherford) Davidson. Doris shared a remarkable 70 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Lloyd Laine, whom she wed on June 9, 1956, in Bemidji, Minnesota. Together, they created a warm and loving home, raising four children: Julie (Gary) Fearing of Paynesville, Rick (Marsha) Laine of Osakis, Debra Kincade of Paynesville, and Greg (Laura) Laine of Hibbing. Doris's family continued to grow, and she took immense pride in her 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Doris is also survived by her sister Ruby Berthiaume and brother Larry Davidson. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband Lloyd, brothers Irvin, Vernon, Cecil (Buddy), and Harley, sisters Harriet Langer and Sylvia Wilson, son-in-law Kevin, and one grandson. Despite these losses, Doris's spirit remained vibrant and full of love, and she found joy in the company of those she treasured. For many years, Doris worked alongside her parents at their resort, Sunset Lodge, on Upper Red Lake. Her work ethic and dedication were evident in all she did, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Known for her famous banana bread and Special K bars, Doris's kitchen was always filled with the comforting aromas of her culinary creations. Doris was an avid bowler, and her hands were rarely still as she lovingly crocheted countless afghans. Her energy and enthusiasm extended to attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, a testament to her unwavering support and love. She and Lloyd were inseparable, often found at casinos or exploring flea markets together. Doris's love for swimming, dancing, hunting, and fishing enriched her life and the lives of those around her. The family invites all who knew and loved Doris to celebrate her life on October 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Rose Center in Paynesville, located at 1105 W Main St, Paynesville, MN. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations in Doris's memory to a charity of your choice. Doris A. Laine will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the joy she brought into the world. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
