It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dorcas Young, a cherished sister, beloved friend, and a beacon of warmth, who left this world on May 23, 2026. Dorcas was surrounded by the serene beauty of her home on Sebago Lake, a place she adored, as she slipped away, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Born on October 29, 1952, in Danbury, Connecticut, Dorcas was the beloved daughter of Franklin and Patricia Young. Her childhood was filled with laughter and joy alongside her siblings, and she carried those treasured memories throughout her life. Dorcas attended local schools in Danbury, where she nurtured her innate curiosity and developed a lifelong love for learning. Her vibrant spirit led her to pursue a career that allowed her to touch countless lives. She dedicated herself to her work with grace and compassion at both Data General and Sysco, making lasting contributions and forming treasured friendships along the way. Family was the cornerstone of Dorcas's life. She shared an unbreakable bond with her siblings, a connection that remained steadfast throughout the years. Predeceased by her dear sister Andrea, Dorcas cherished every moment spent with her surviving brother, Jay Young, and her sister, Sara Stevenson. They will forever hold her memory in their hearts, grateful for the love and laughter they shared. Dorcas's warmth extended beyond her family, as she effortlessly made friends everywhere she went. Her kind heart, infectious smile, and genuine interest in the lives of others drew people to her. Whether organizing community events, volunteering her time, or simply lending an empathetic ear, Dorcas's presence was a gift to all who knew her. Her love for nature was evident in her choice to reside by Sebago Lake, where she found peace and inspiration in the beauty of the natural world. Dorcas spent countless hours enjoying the tranquility of the water, taking walks along the shore, and marveling at the changing seasons. It was here, in this idyllic setting, that she discovered her profound sense of belonging and serenity. In honoring Dorcas's memory, we are reminded of the profound impact she had on those around her. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She taught us to appreciate the small moments, to find joy in the everyday, and to cherish the bonds we share with one another. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to organizations dear to Dorcas's heart, supporting the causes she held close throughout her life. This gesture will continue her spirit of giving and ensure her legacy of compassion lives on. A celebration of Dorcas's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and find comfort in one another's presence. Dorcas Young's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her light will continue to shine, guiding us with the love and grace she shared so abundantly. May she rest in eternal peace, forever cherished and never forgotten.
