On February 12, 1972, Dora married Herbert B. Bennett, at the Valley Forge Chapel in Valley Forge, PA. Their union, which spanned over 54 years, was a beautiful testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Geoffrey C. Her passion for teaching was evident in her long and distinguished career. She began her journey at Cranbury Elementary School in Cranbury, NJ, from 1976 to 1980, and later served as a coach and Executive Director of the Hopewell Valley YMCA in Pennington, NJ. Dora's dedication to sports and education continued as she became a cherished teacher, coach, and Athletic Director at Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Princeton, NJ, where she remained until 2006. She was elected to the Stuart Country Day School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024. Dora was actively involved in organizing and coordinating various Mercer County, NJ, field hockey, lacrosse and tennis tournaments between 1988 and 1996. Her contributions as Secretary to the Mercer County Athletic Directors Association between 1990 and 1997 were invaluable. After relocating to Colorado with her husband, Dora continued to inspire young athletes by coaching field hockey and lacrosse at Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs, CO, for seven years. She also contributed as an Assistant to the Director of the Rocky Mountain State Games for Field Hockey in 2013. Her commitment to coaching and mentoring continued at the Chapin School in Princeton, NJ, in 2014, and at the Colorado Academy from 2015 to 2021. Beyond her professional achievements, Dora was a woman of warmth and generosity. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her thoughtful nature was evident in her habit of purchasing gifts for loved ones, whether for special occasions or just because. She was a beacon of kindness and an unwavering friend to many. Her love for her family was unparalleled, and she cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and the many friends she considered family. Dora's legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to her community will forever be remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Dora's memory to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center - MSK Giving, a cause close to her heart.
