It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Dora Elsa Barbosa, who left this world peacefully on April 20, 2026, with her beloved husband and cherished children by her side. Born on December 25, 1943, in the vibrant city of Bogota, Colombia, Dora graced the world with her presence for 82 years.
Dora was a beacon of love and warmth, her life a testament to the beauty of family, friendship, and unwavering dedication. Educated at Folsom University in Bogota, where she earned a degree in business, Dora was a woman of remarkable intellect and drive. Her career at the Sears corporation, along with her various side endeavors, showcased her industrious spirit and commitment to excellence. However, it was in the loving role of a homemaker that Dora truly shone, nurturing her family with boundless love and devotion.
On November 29, 1962, Dora married the love of her life, Jose Barbosa, embarking on a journey of companionship and shared dreams that spanned 53 beautiful years. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and love, first in Bogota and later in New York. Dora and Jose's union was blessed with three wonderful children: William, Edgar, and Liliana. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each a living testament to Dora's enduring love and influence.
Dora's creativity and talent knew no bounds, and she found immense joy in crafting clothes and blankets for her family. Every stitch was a symbol of her affection, her hands weaving warmth and love into each piece for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her dear parents, Eduardo Silva and Gladys Barbosa, whose memories she cherished deeply. Dora is survived by her loving husband Jose, her devoted children William, Edgar, and Liliana Finch, and her extended family, who will forever hold her in their hearts. Her life was enriched by an abundance of close friends who will miss her dearly.
In the words of her family, "Thank you for your assistance to those that helped me through my passing and to all my beautiful family, friends, and people that made my life a wonderful time." This message encapsulates Dora's spirit of gratitude and love, extended to everyone who touched her life.
As we remember Dora Elsa Barbosa, let us celebrate her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of cherished moments, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace, forever surrounded by the love she so generously gave.
