May 19, 1970 — February 9, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Donte Darnell Brown on February 9, 2026, at his cherished family home. Born on May 19, 1970, in the vibrant city of Miami, Florida, Donte's journey was one defined by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him. Donte was the treasured son of Alice B. Brown and Mitchell L. Brown Sr., who instilled in him the values of kindness, resilience, and generosity. These qualities became the hallmarks of his life, shaping the man he grew to be—a beacon of love and support for his family and community. In April 2007, Donte married his high school sweetheart, Tangela, in a beautiful ceremony in Miami Gardens, Florida. Their union was a testament to enduring love, and together they raised their son, Kingston D. Brown, in a home filled with laughter, warmth, and endless joy. Donte's life was enriched by the love and support of his siblings: sisters Shawntavia Brown-Darbouze (David), Taneisha Brown, Jasmine Brown, and Latasha Brown, and brothers Mitchell Brown Jr., Kevin Brown (Natasha), Darnell Brown (Tiffany), Terrence Brown (Tara), and Travis Brown. His family, alongside a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors, formed an unbreakable bond that was the cornerstone of his life. Donte's academic journey began at Miami Carol City High School, where he graduated in 1989. His thirst for knowledge and passion for engineering led him to Florida State University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in 1994. For over two decades, Donte dedicated his career to serving as an engineer dock worker at Long Shoremen's. Known for his leadership and mentorship, he was a guiding light to young engineers, always eager to share his wisdom and experience. Beyond his professional achievements, Donte's heart was deeply rooted in his community. As an active member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for over a decade, his faith and commitment to service were unwavering. In his personal life, Donte found joy in simple pleasures—spending weekends with Tangela and Kingston, and sharing daily conversations with his beloved baby sister, Latasha, who held a special place in his heart. Donte's presence was a gift; his warm smile could light up any room, and his innate ability to make everyone feel valued and welcome was truly remarkable. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. A celebration of Donte's life will be held on February 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3330 N.W. 213th Ter., Miami Gardens, Florida 33056. The Brown family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the USPS, the Long Shoremen's Dockworker's Union, and the City of Miami Gardens, especially Mr. Rodney Harris, for their unwavering support during this difficult time. Special thanks are also extended to Mitchell Brown Sr., Donte's father, a retired USPS employee and esteemed City Chairman Council member, for his steadfast guidance and love. Donte Darnell Brown's legacy is one of love, kindness, and enduring faith. While his physical presence may be gone, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
