With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donnell J. Davis, who left us far too soon on February 19, 2026. Born on June 19, 2008, in Whiteville, NC, Donnell was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him. He was the cherished son of Sarah Shipman and Donnell Davis, who now find comfort in the precious memories of their beloved son. A proud student of Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy, Donnell demonstrated an innate ability to lead and inspire. His time spent at the academy was marked by his dedication to excellence, a reflection of his commitment to personal growth and community service. Donnell’s professional journey was just beginning, having worked at Union Mortuary for about a year and three months. In this role, he was known not only for his diligent work ethic but also for his compassionate spirit, offering solace to those in times of need. His love for dance, particularly his passion for emulating the legendary Michael Jackson, was a significant part of who Donnell was. Known for his incredible dance moves, he brought to life the spirit of the King of Pop through his "MJ Lives Tribute Show." This tribute was not just a performance; it was an expression of Donnell's boundless creativity and admiration for the art of dance. Outside of his professional and artistic pursuits, Donnell had a profound love for the military and gaming. These interests reflected his strategic thinking and his appreciation for discipline and teamwork. Those who knew Donnell will remember his infectious energy and the warmth of his smile. His presence could light up any room, and his ability to connect with others was truly remarkable. He carried himself with a grace and kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Donnell is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Ruth Shipman, Uncle Frank Hall, Uncle Larry Hall, and his great-grandmother Maggie. The family takes solace in knowing that he is now reunited with these cherished family members. As we celebrate Donnell's life, we remember a young man who lived with passion and purpose. His legacy will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his time with us was short, the impact he made will endure in the hearts of those who loved him. In honoring Donnell's memory, let us dance a little more freely, love a little more deeply, and cherish the moments we have with those we hold dear. May his soul rest in eternal peace, forever moonwalking among the stars. Donnell J. Davis will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable life.
