Donna Moody, a beloved member of the Jacksonville community, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on October 7, 1939, in Jacksonville, Illinois, Donna was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Hayes) Strubbe. Her life's journey was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those around her.
Donna's early years were spent in Jacksonville, where she graduated from Ashland High School in 1957. Driven by a passion for learning and growth, she pursued higher education at Brown's Business College in Jacksonville, earning a business degree that laid the foundation for her career. She dedicated many years of her professional life to the Moody Implement Company, where her hard work and determination earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike until her retirement.
On October 21, 1962, Donna married the love of her life, Kawyn K. Moody. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning 40 beautiful years until Kawyn's passing. Together, they raised a son, Kawyn Moody Jr., who was the light of her life and her pride and joy. Though their family was small, it was filled with immense love and warmth.
Donna’s faith was an integral part of her life. She was a long-time active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, where she served with devotion on the Altar Guild and contributed significantly to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Her generous spirit extended beyond her church, as she volunteered for numerous service projects, touching countless lives with her kindness and selflessness.
A woman of varied interests, Donna had a passion for collecting eagles, exploring Route 66, and all things Allis-Chalmers. Her involvement with organizations such as the Prairieland Heritage Museum, Upper Midwest Allis-Chalmers Club, and the Rumley Allis Heritage Museum showcased her enthusiasm and expertise. Donna’s contributions were recognized with her induction into the Hall of Fame at the Allis Connection, and her articles for “Old Allis News” were cherished by enthusiasts.
Family was the cornerstone of Donna's life. She is survived by her beloved son, Kawyn Moody Jr. of Jacksonville, and her brother, Joseph (Karen) Strubbe of Costa Mesa, California. Donna also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, who remember her for her infectious smile and boundless generosity. She was predeceased by her husband, Kawyn, her parents, and her siblings, Larry (Nancy) Strubbe, Richard Strubbe, Mary (Keith Zenge, Vernon Opperman) Opperman Zenge, and Delores (Herbert) Lindsay.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held on June 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, located at 222 E. Beecher Ave., Jacksonville, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Salem Lutheran School, reflecting Donna’s commitment to education and community service.
Donna Moody’s legacy is one of love, faith, and generosity. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
