Donna J. Gendreau
September 27, 1935 — April 21, 2026
Fort Worth, Texas, has bid farewell to a beloved soul, Donna J. Gendreau, who passed away suddenly on April 21, 2026, following a fall. Born on September 27, 1935, to Leonard Autry and Billie Phillips, Donna graced this world with her warmth, kindness, and a spirit that touched everyone she encountered.
Donna's journey was marked by a tapestry of love, dedication, and unwavering faith. For 71 remarkable years, she shared her life with her devoted husband, Lionel Gendreau, whom she married on August 6, 1954. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter, weathering life's storms and celebrating its joys side by side.
A woman of many talents, Donna wore numerous hats with grace and dedication. While her primary role was that of a nurturing homemaker, she also contributed her skills as a ward clerk in various hospital settings, where her caring nature and attention to detail were invaluable.
Donna's life was a testament to community and service. An active member of Holy Family Parish for over 50 years, her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She shared her gifts generously, serving as a Cub Scout leader, a softball coach, and a PTA president, forever impacting the lives of the young people she guided.
Her hobbies were as vibrant as her personality. Whether she was teeing off on the golf course, tending to her beloved garden, creating beautiful ceramics, playing cards, or working on puzzles, Donna approached each with enthusiasm and joy. Her greatest passion, however, was her family, particularly her five cherished grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.
Donna was predeceased by her beloved sons, Paul J. Gendreau and Timothy L. Gendreau, whose memories she held close to her heart every day. In her passing, she leaves behind her husband Lionel, her five grandchildren, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness and humor.
Her home was a haven of warmth, where the aroma of Southern hospitality mingled with the effervescent fizz of a Dr Pepper, her beverage of choice. With a quick wit and a hearty laugh wrapped in a charming Southern drawl, Donna was the heartbeat of her family, always ready to lend a hand or offer a listening ear. Her faith was unwavering, providing strength and guidance to those around her.
A service to honor and celebrate Donna's life will be held on April 30, 2026, at 5:00 PM. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Saint Francis Hospital and to the many friends and family whose love and support have been a source of comfort during this difficult time.
As we remember Donna, let us be inspired by her life of service, love, and unwavering faith. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
