Donna Ford Kranz

December 22, 1954 — May 14, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Donna Ford Kranz, a cherished wife, sister, aunt, educator, and friend. Donna departed this world on May 14, 2026, at the age of 71, leaving an indelible mark on all who were privileged to know her. Born on December 22, 1954, in the quaint town of Russellville, Kentucky, Donna was the beloved daughter of the late Loyd W. Ford, Sr. and Norma (Paris) Younger. Her early years were spent surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, alongside her siblings Linda Ford Waters, Loyd W. Ford, Jr., and Debbie Ford Rambo, who survives her. Donna was a beacon of light and joy, known for her infectious laughter and unwavering kindness. Donna's academic journey began at Christian County High School, where she graduated with honors, laying the foundation for her lifelong passion for learning and education. She pursued advanced degrees in History and Education from the prestigious University of Kentucky, a place that would forever hold a special place in her heart. Her devotion to the UK Wildcats, particularly their basketball and football teams, was well-known and something she shared with her community and loved ones. On June 6, 1980, Donna married the love of her life, Patrick “Butch” Kranz, in a union that lasted almost 46 years. Their marriage was a testament to true companionship and love, filled with shared dreams and cherished memories. Together, they built a life in Cadiz, Kentucky, enriched by their close-knit community and family ties. For 27 years, Donna dedicated her life to nurturing young minds as a teacher at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School and Trigg County High School. Her classroom was not just a place of learning but a sanctuary of inspiration and encouragement. Her commitment to her students and advocacy for education extended beyond the classroom, as she was actively involved with the UK Alumni Association and various organizations, always striving to make a difference. In her retirement, Donna continued her legacy of service as a volunteer at Trigg County Primary and Intermediate Schools, where she shared her wisdom and warmth with a new generation. Her dedication to education and her students was matched only by her love for her family. Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Butch; her sister, Debbie Ford Rambo (Todd) of Waco, Georgia; her nieces, Lindsey Caruthers (Adam) and Whitney Waters; and her nephew, Alex Ford. Donna's compassionate spirit, unwavering dedication, and profound love for those around her will be dearly missed. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the lasting impact she made in the field of education. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Donna's memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, ensuring that her passion for education continues to inspire future generations. A celebration of Donna's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and share in the joy of the life she lived so fully. Until then, we hold her in our hearts, comforted by the knowledge that she is at peace, reunited with her beloved parents and cherished siblings who have gone before her. Donna Ford Kranz, a life well-lived and a spirit forever cherished.
