Donna Ernestine Bryant Hill
December 17, 1935 — July 25, 2026
Donna Ernestine Bryant Hill, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2026, surrounded by her family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 17, 1935, in Carnegie, Oklahoma, to Ernest and Genetia Patterson Bryant.
Donna's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. Her journey began in Carnegie, where she attended Prairie Lone School before graduating from Carnegie High School in 1953. Donna's compassionate nature led her to a career in cosmetology, and she later worked at the Carnegie Hospital. Her life took a cherished turn when she married the love of her life, James Hill, on July 13, 1970. Together, they shared 56 beautiful years, working side by side in his medical office first in Carnegie, then in Oklahoma City, until their retirement in September 2003.
Family was the center of Donna's world. She was a devoted mother to Schelly Hill, Scherry, and Pat Swanda, and a treasured grandmother to Patrick Neal and Nizia Swanda, and Sierra and Kurtis Kuryk. She rejoiced in the smiles of her great-grandchildren, Philip, Sophia, and Ahna Swanda, and Nixon and Scarlett Kuryk, whose laughter filled her home with joy.
Donna was a woman of grace with a heart as warm as her famous pies and cobblers, which were staples at family gatherings and celebrations. Her creativity shone through in her beautifully decorated home and exquisite flower arrangements. Her laughter was infectious, and she possessed a fierce love and loyalty for her family and friends, always ready to defend them while offering the truth they needed to hear.
A member of the Carnegie Methodist Church, Donna's faith and community were integral parts of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unforgettable memories, now reunited in spirit with her parents, her son Rick Leon Hill, and her siblings Voncille Hall, Anita Rutledge, and Dwayne Bryant.
While Donna's family mourns her passing, they find solace in the knowledge that she lived a full and vibrant life, enriched by her love for her family and the joy she brought to others. The family will honor Donna's memory in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting Donna's generous spirit and passion for helping others.
Donna Ernestine Bryant Hill will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
