Donna passed unexpectedly at the University of Kentucky Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Born on March 10, 1942, in the quaint town of Pikeville, Kentucky, Donna was the beloved daughter of the late James and Kathleen Dotson. From a young age, Donna's life was marked by a deep sense of compassion and an enduring dedication to her family and community.
Donna was the devoted wife of the late Kent Emerson, with whom she shared over 40 beautiful years of marriage. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, and together they built a life filled with warmth and joy. Donna was also the loving mother of the late Cheryl Ward and the sister of the late Della Justice, whose memories she cherished and held close to her heart.
Donna is survived by her sons, David Blankenship and Randy Blankenship, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was also a doting grandmother to seven grandchildren: Jamie (Dane) Klaber, John (Michelle) Blankenship, Scott and Alex Ward, and several great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her days.
A proud alumna of Morehead State University, Donna graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business, which she carried into a successful career at IBM. Over her 30-year tenure with the company, Donna became known for her dedication, work ethic, and unwavering integrity, leaving behind a lasting impact on her colleagues and the business community.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Donna was a woman of varied interests and a deep-seated love for her family. She was a longtime member of a Bible book club in Lexington, Kentucky, where she found solace and friendship in shared faith and scripture. Her hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit, as she poured all her extra time into her family, always ensuring they felt loved and supported.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Donna's remarkable life on May 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM. A service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, located at 926 N Hwy 460, Frenchburg, KY 40322. As we gather to honor her life, let us remember Donna not for the sorrow of her passing but for the profound impact she made on the lives she touched.
